While Browse may be advancing, the site selection for Sunrise LNG, which is located in the joint-development area between Australia and East Timor, has been delayed to March. According to Woodside, the liquefaction plant will either be built onshore at the Darwin LNG plant or on a floating platform.
"Chief Minister Paul Henderson said the Territory Government had told Canberra ‘stridently and emphatically’ that Sunrise gas should be piped to Darwin," Nigel Adlam of the Northern Territory News reported on Feb. 10.
The East Timorese government, however, has emphasized the importance of locating the project in East Timor.
